Economic Empowerment
Sister-Nomic$™ Signature Program
The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. views economic empowerment as critical for a just society. We define economic empowerment as the ability to self-determine dreams, pursue and realize them by establishing the mechanisms to sustain generational wealth. NCBW’s programmatic initiative “Sisters-Nomic$” promotes economic self-sufficiency through financial literacy, family wealth building, and entrepreneurship. Throughout the country, local chapters’ Economic Empowerment programs address financial literacy, life skills training, and economic empowerment for women who have experienced financial trauma or simply need a financial jump-start. Financial professionals and chapter members nationwide support the theme and curriculum modules as themes during our workshops and seminars.
Economic Empowerment Focus:
- Pay Equity
- African American Woman-Owned Business
- Growth Livable Wage Employment Opportunities
In 2024, our mentees participated in the national initiative Invest in Girls Financial Education Program with other local high school girls. We implemented this program in partnership with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. and Wells Fargo. The program aims to help girls learn the skills to make important life decisions and gain confidence in managing their money.
